Shining a Spotlight: Preschool Teacher Jennifer Sanchez Named ‘One in a Million’

When we think about the people who shape our lives, educators are always at the top of the list. That’s why First Things First and the Million Dollar Teacher Project are proud to recognize one extraordinary preschool teacher.

First Things First is Arizona’s early childhood agency, partnering with families and communities to give all Arizona children the opportunity to arrive at kindergarten healthy and ready to succeed. First Things First funds Quality First to help early care and education providers improve the quality of their programs.

The mission of the Million Dollar Teacher Project (MDTP) is to elevate the teaching profession through increased recognition, compensation and support. The organization runs a variety of programs to serve and support educators.

Together, MDTP and Quality First have launched several collaborative efforts—from educator appreciation events to sharing teacher discounts. And this year, they marked a major milestone: for the first time, MDTP’s One In A Million spotlight was turned toward an early childhood educator.

That honor went to Jennifer Sanchez, a preschool teacher at Wilson Primary School in First Things First’s Phoenix South region. Sanchez was celebrated with an energetic reception hosted at her school. Wilson Primary School Preschool is a proud participant in Quality First.

Congratulations to Jennifer Sanchez, who represents Arizona’s early childhood educators and their commitment to our state’s youngest learners. Her story is one of thousands across Arizona, reminding us to thank the early educators who shape the futures of children in our communities.
